Ed’s son David LaPointe purchased the stock from Ed during a period from 1996-1999 and ran Foster until December of 2016. David sold the business to Eric Jahnke & Colin Olson of Premier Electrical Corporation.
Foster has a long history with both the city of Rochester and the Mayo Clinic. They began in 1914 when Abe Foster started the earliest documented project on company record.
Eleven years later, in 1925, Foster Electric officially became incorporated as a company. Abe passed away in 1931, but his wife Mary took over the business, and ran in until 1950. In 1950 Mary decided to sell Foster Electric to her employees Jon Engel & Leo Neitz. Then, in 1969, Mr. Engel & Mr. Neitz sold the business to Ed LaPointe.
Clients Foster currently services: Mayo Clinic Prospect Power Plant (Mayo owned) Franklin Heights Station (Mayo owned), IBM Projects, Water Reclamation Plant, Benchmark Electronics, OCWEF, Kahler & Marriot Hotels, Pace Dairy, Kroger Foods, Rochester Community and Technical College and other College Campuses in Southern MN. Foster also works with numerous General Contractors in the area including Benike, Knutson, Wies Builders, A&P, Construction Collabrative, Kraus Anderson, and Bolt.
